One, Two, Three . . .
05/16/2012
They said it would never happen to me. Here i was walking down an aisle with a girl next to me. We were walking in time to the music, heading toward the man standing at the end of the aisle. Then, he spoke my name and it was done. He handed me my diploma and High School was over. As I look back on those years now, I call that time from birth to HS graduation, "Act One". It was quiet an experience.
They were both good and bad, difficult and easy, short term and long term, boring and interesting, sometimes one and then two. Man, have I had some jobs in my time. I started working at about 15 and never was out of a job but for a short time. Those times were usually because I gave up my current job and decided to move to a completely different place and start looking for a new job. It never took long. Like most people that have worked any length of time, I have had a variety of jobs, each so different. As I look back on my working years, I call them "Act Two". It was quiet a ride.
I started my retirement years in May 2012. As the curtain rises on these remaining years I call them "Act Three". I want to look back on them someday and say, "That was quiet a trip".
Selling my house in Austin, Texas and living in an apartment for awhile, I have been building up to this Act Three for some time. I have now sold my furniture and put my personal belongings in storage. After a few years of downsizing and getting ready for this new lifestyle, it all seems a little odd and uncertain. I've always had a job, sometimes two at a time. Now, cutting all my ties with work and home, I am free to seek new horizons in any direction I choose. Still, a little unnerving because once again in my life, I am adrift, but this time without a destination or plan in mind.
The dictionary defines a VAGABOND as: a person who wanders around from place to place without a home or job.
So, I guess you can call me a Vagabond for now. Act Three takes me vagabonding around to,... well ... just wherever I guess.
Now, May 2012, I am leaving Texas and going to spend some time in Arkansas with family for a while. I will make plans as I go.
Glad you are reading my journal. I will make posts about my experiences starting from today. The next few months will mostly be about family. Most of the pictures posted will include family members. Two reason for this: I am the one taking the pictures, and, they all look better in photos than I do.
